Rain of Love

(David Shearer)

In God's word, we read about the latter rain or outpouring of God's Spirit. This song-prayer asks our Heavenly Father for that outpouring--the outpouring that replaces hurtful ways with God's character of love and peace. The musical accompaniment to this prayer artfully combines guitar, rain, harmonica and keyboard to express the cries of the human heart as it seeks out God...

"Let the rain fall down on us..."

Butterflies and Sunshine

(David Shearer)

It was a clear, inviting day as I played my guitar under the canopy of Heaven. I could feel the warmth of the sun's rays flood over me. Suddenly, a butterfly lighted upon a nearby flower. I knew then the inspired name of this lighthearted guitar instrumental: Butterflies and Sunshine. Close your eyes and see if you are transported to a quiet, joyful moment in your past-- perhaps, a moment when God"s presense was especially meaningful.

Give it to Him

(David Shearer)

This song is a ballad reflecting on the struggle that I have had in giving all my burdens to Christ. I seem to go through the motions of giving my troubles to Christ and still try to help Him carry what He has promised to take care of. Earnestly, He begs me to "give my trials to Him." The rhythmic background guitar accompaniment reflects the struggle of giving everything to Christ.

Be Still and Know

(David Shearer)

This guitar instrumental is a quiet reflection of the awe that we may experience in the presense of God. The rich tones beg us to pause a moment and consider our omnipotent Creator and Redeemer.

Tis So Sweet and Hallelujah

(David Shearer)

I performed this piece on a rare six-string dulcimer with extra frets. A dulcimer is an Appalachian stringed instrument that was used for centuries to pass on scripture and family history. Traditionally, dulcimer players used a feather to strum the strings, I use my finger, much like a lap guitarist would. This specific instrument was one that my wife bought after she watched the luthier, Dee of Dallas, Oregon, lovingly form it. The tone was to Lynn's ear very rich. As soon as I played it, I knew that this was a "must have" instrument to add to my growing collection. A medley, "Tis So Sweet and Hallelujah," is a reflection of the peace and joy that we may have in accepting Christ as our Saviour.

Behold, I Stand

(David Shearer)

This song is an invitation from Christ to open the door of your heart, so that His Spirit may live in you--removing sin and darkness and replacing those traits with love and light.

"Behold, I stand at the door of your heart..."

Follow Him

(David Shearer)

A ballad of the life of Peter, "Follow Him" is the moving story of Peter as he came to know the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. Put yourself in the place of Peter and experience Christ calling you to "follow Him." The background accompaniment is hauntingly moving as David incorporates Native American Indian flute and guitar. In the chorus, Peter hears Christ calling him; and ultimately, you hear that same invitation too..."Come follow Me."

Sailing

(David Shearer)

A moving ballad that carries you through the storms of life and brings you, ultimately "into the harbor of God's love." The flowing, enrapturing music transports you through the storms of life to a place of peace and rest.

On the sea, there's a boat in the storm..."

Contentment

(David Shearer)

This guitar instrumental is a mix of smooth jazz and folk that gives you a feeling of contentment in knowing our Heavenly Father is with you through all things.

Medley

(David Shearer)

David beautifully paints a picture of life on this earth with all of its woes and joys. His gifted hand makes the guitar rejoice and cry. Feel life's moments as you lose yourself in this piece.
