Away from Rush Hour

(David Shearer Music)

Away from Rush Hour is a creative work designed to take you away from the troubled pace of today’s world. Accomplished guitarist, composer and recordist, David Shearer, has created an amazing acoustic expression of life in the North Central Cascades.  His sons, Joel and Micah Shearer have added some extra spice to this journey with some of their own compositional flare.  This reflective work of piano, guitar, six-string dulcimer, and modal tunings helps the soul to seek a quiet place and reflect on the good in life.

Fresh as the Morning

Do you recall how wonderful it is to wake up after a good night’s rest?  Fresh as the Morning is an audio expression of that very feeling.  It is invigoration and joy, all-in-one.

Taking Time

(David Shearer)

Some of us forget to take a few moments each day to reflect on the good in life.  When it seems that there is nothing truly good to see, we need to seek the presence and peace of our Creator and allow Him to fill us with the knowledge that we are valuable in His sight.  We need to give the troubles of the day to Him and go forward with the assurance that His strength will cover our weakness, and His peace will replace our heartache.

Sheer Bliss

(David Shearer and Joel Shearer)

For years, my sons and I have enjoyed expressing ourselves through music.  This is a collaboration of my son, Joel, and me as we look at life with all that it has to offer.

Wayfaring Stranger

(David Shearer)

From the first time that I heard the Native American flute, I knew that I had to have one.  This flute was made for me by one of the finest Native American flute carvers in the Pacific Northwest, Loomis.  The wood is Sitka Spruce, hence its rich tones.  The song, Wayfaring Stranger, is an old spiritual that depicts a man wandering through life and longing for the time when he will meet his Creator.  The words acknowledge that life will have its difficulties, but that in the end, all will be as God intended.

Musical interpretation and flutist: David Shearer

Away from Rush Hour

(David Shearer)

It’s Friday afternoon.  You look at the clock, anxious to escape to your car and head home from a hectic work week.  The rush hour traffic is driving you crazy.  Then, you see the exit toward home.  Away from Rush Hour is a depiction of the escape from hectic city traffic to relief.

Sunrise with You

(Joel D. Shearer)

Whether you are up at dawn to spend time with God or to spend a few moments with someone you love, dawn is the perfect time to find a few moments of quietude. Imagine an early morning when you do not have to be in a rush, but can take time to contemplate.  Our eldest son, Joel found inspiration in those moments when he composed this piece.

Composer and pianist: Joel D. Shearer

Dragonfly in the Meadow

(David Shearer)

The last winter snows were retreating.  The meadows were ablaze with a myriad of colors. Darting amidst the wildflowers was a vibrant blue dragonfly.  Sit back and experience the abundant beauty and wonder of the high mountain meadows.

Composer and guitarist: David Shearer
